Taiyo Matsumoto's 'No.5'
In his comic "No. 5", Taiyo Matsumoto's character design and focus on visual storytelling, particularly in action sequences is something I greatly admire and strive for in my own work. The sketchy line work evokes a strong sense of movement and really brings the characters to life in a unique way. I have the first two volumes but can never find them in stores and never have enough dough to order the rest of them, I think there are like eight books now! If you have a chance to check these out go for it! They are full of eye candy for visual artists and comic book enthusiasts alike to drool over.

Space Men
We put up some new work on Twamies (topmost) inspired by the Solar System! Painting them jogged my memory and reminded me of some really amazing artrwork from the 1800's by a fellow named E. L. Trouvelot. The New York Public Library has a bunch of them in their digital gallery! One of my favorite illustrations of all time is his work 'The November Meteors' (above). His Jupiter ain't bad either! Oh yeah, and he is also credited for kind of accidentally releasing Gypsy Moth larvae into the U.S. He was all like 'hmmm' and tried to warn people about them, but it seems that his warnings were sort of ignored. The moths became quite the invasive species. Oops!
